How to stay on track with inner work

Blog Post No. 17

We all know this: real inner work can be hard and challenging. Keeping up with the inner work is not easy and bumpy along the way, yet with real commitment and willpower it is absolutely doable.

Genuine commitment

Embarking on an inner journey is a decision that must come from within. No one can convince you to do inner work. Only with intrinsic motivation is it sustainable and effective in the long term.

Since inner work has a lot to do with dissolving programs, it is necessary to work on inner stability, self-confidence and sharpness of awareness. Working with programs can be very triggering, hence it is advisable to first focus on re-strengthening the inner strong core, i.e. the innate sense of trust and security.

There are no quick fixes when it comes to real inner work. It is important to understand that remembering who and where you are is a lifelong journey.

Sincere and genuine commitment to inner work is absolutely key, because your willpower will ensure that you stay on track with inner work.

Sharp focus and strong will

Know what you want! It is very easy to get distracted by the reality around you, and therefore a clear direction and a strong intention are vital. Be conscious of your wishes and needs.

It is very easy to get distracted by the reality around you, and therefore a clear direction and a strong intention are vital.

In order to stay on track with your inner work, strengthen your willpower and sharpen your focus. There are many exercises and tools to enhance these skills, e.g. different types of meditation, ice bathing, hyperfocus training, breathwork, body movement, and many more.

I love spending time alone in nature – hiking, sitting in silence, observing nature in different countries, etc. Every time I do this, I feel like I become stronger and more secure inside. Do you feel the same way?

Prioritize time alone for yourself

Spending time alone in nature or in silence at home is very helpful when it comes to redeveloping your sense of clarity and sharp focus. Take time for yourself regularly and prioritize it.

Spending time alone helps you to reconnect deeply with your inner Self.

Depending on your personality, time alone can be a smaller or bigger challenge. So be gentle with yourself and work your way forward: from hours to days or even weeks.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Go hiking in a nearby forest or somewhere further away.

  • Spend time in your garden (relaxing, gardening, ...) or in a park.

  • Go to a café or restaurant alone and observe how you feel.

  • Go on vacation alone with few distractions, i.e. no hostels, no meeting new people, staying in a remote place, ...

  • Meditation, breath work, other mindfulness exercises, ... try to do this on your own as well and not just in a workshop or yoga studio.

  • Write a journal, create a vision board, ... – really deal with your topics and reflect on them, dissolve patterns and programs, ...

  • Deepen your connection with your own body: Yoga, stretching or other body movements, …

  • Create art: Music, drawing, painting, sewing, any other DYI projects, etc. Focus on working with your hands as well.

  • Take a bath, e.g. in a lake, in the sea, in a bathtub, ...

  • Develop a routine or some sort of structure (with a calendar, …)

By the way, "time alone" doesn't necessarily mean watching a movie, reading a book or spending time on the internet etc. All this distracts you from really focusing on being with yourself i.e. doing the true inner work. Take time to really deal with your issues, listen within and build a stronger connection to your inner Self.
