The medicine of a master plant

Blog Post No. 12

Ayahuasca is a master plant medicine from the Amazon rainforest. Working with its plant spirit is part of the indigenous culture in this region. Ayahuasca teaches as a mother or grandmother would teach – in a very straightforward and sharp way but at the same time very gently and lovingly. This is why her energy is also called (Grand-)Mother Ayahuasca.

There is a very strict and ancient shamanic tradition around Ayahuasca, as her teachings as a master plant can be very intense and therefore are not suitable for everyone. Hence I don't support the trend towards all the new spiritual retreats that are popping up everywhere.

Know who are you dealing with

As her name suggests, you shouldn't mess around with a master plant. Mother Ayahuasca is quite serious and I would strongly advise to really understand who you are dealing with before considering meeting with her. I did this before I had my own experiences, and I'm still very glad that I followed this guidance.

Be prepared to meet a master

As mentioned, I have had some experience with her energy. For now, I would say please do your own in-depth research and don't underestimate the preparation and integration phase afterwards.

Why I don't support the trend

After my first experience with Mother Ayahuasca, I realized that the retreat offered no integration support and I felt left alone with my crazy insights. By the way, my initial encounter with Ayahuasca was the first psychedelic experience I had. Although I had done my research, I was still surprised by her intensity – and I had what I would call a very positive experience.

When I went to a second retreat – and this was a popular and well-known place – I realized again that there was no real integration support offered. That was the moment I started to question the intentions of those retreats. Do they really care about the healing journey of people?

Based on my own experiences and other people's stories, I know that there is much more going on at those retreats than we can actually perceive with our physical eyes. If these so-called shamans and facilitators have not had any real shamanic training, they may be open to being taken over by dark energies – this can also be a very unconscious process based on unresolved trauma. In such a case, dark energies have easy access.

Being able to truly hold space for other people in an Ayahuasca ceremony, there is a lot of true inner work and intense training needed.

The limit within the expansion

Since we are in a realm full of distortions and inversions, we must take this into consideration when seeking external guidance, which includes Mother Ayahuasca.

From my perspective and experience, Ayahuasca can be a great teacher in this life. She can show you – through her lens – who you are and where you are. That's an important point: it's all through her lens, so there's never an ultimate truth to her teachings since it is her perspective. And that is the aspect we should never forget.

Also, she is a master in this realm, which means she also operates within the limitations here – although she may have different limitations than we do. She may be able to guide us deeper into ourselves as she navigates us through our trauma and helps us release energetic blockages. This process feels like an expansion, while we get a glimpse of who we are.

Master plants can support us realize that it is about us remembering who we are. Realize that Ayahuasca can be a helping hand, but she can never tell you your inner truth!

The portal to truth is within

The gateway to truth will always be within you. Be aware that the truth may be distorted when you walk with plant medicines, for they will present truth through their lens.

To really get closer to truth, you must understand that it must come from your true Inner Self and from a place of remembrance. These masters can offer their perspective, but it must always be taken with a grain of salt, for you must realize your truth through an undistracted, non-psychedelic journey into your inner world.

Ayahuasca can be a great gateway opener, as it was for me, but then I had to embark on the journey myself.

The gateway to truth will always be within you. You must realize your truth through an undistracted, non-psychedelic journey into your inner world.
